Uranium Star Releases 15 Additional Trench Results on Green Giant Vanadium Project
Posted at 4:16 p.m. on January 1, 2009
Uranium Star Corp. (OTCBB:URST) (FRANKFURT:YE5) (“Uranium Star” or “the Company”) announces it has received results from 15 additional trenches on its Green Giant Vanadium Project in Madagascar.
Significant Vanadium Values Confirmed
A total of 21 trenches have been established to date. All have been mapped, sampled and analyzed. The Company is greatly encouraged by the recently received trench results that are confirming that the host structure along its entire 21 km strike length contains vanadium values of economic interest.
Highlights of Trench Results
A highlight of returned analytical results include the following; Trench 21 with 1.08% V2O5 over 51 metres; Trench 19 with 0.77% V2O5 over 105 metres; Trench 15 with 0.56% V2O5 over 54 metres; and Trench 7 with 0.41% V2O5 over 150 meters. A complete list of trench results can be viewed on the table enclosed below.
Extensive trenching, using two mechanical excavators, is being conducted over anomalous vanadium trends and their strike extensions defined by the 2008 drilling program as well as geophysical and geochemical surveys. Initial analytical results have been received utilizing the Company’s hand-held XRF units. Past experience indicates that these units very adequately generate vanadium values that can be utilized with confidence. A comparison of the 2008 drill results between the XRF and commercial laboratory assays was very strong.
Results from the initial 6 trenches were released in the Company’s press release of May 27, 2009.
Trenches TR-09-01 to 08 and TR-09-11,12 and 13 were established in the southern zone of the Property. They represent a strike length of 4.2 kilometers with the first 9 trenches mentioned having a strike length of 1.2 kilometers. Trench 12 is a further 1.2 kilometers to the north and Trench 13 is 1.8 km north of Trench 12. The Central Zone is 5.5 km north of Trench 13 and trenches represent a strike length of 900 meters. The North Zone is 6.8 km north of the Central Zone and has currently been trenched over a strike length of 1km.
Additional trenching is ongoing and will infill between the three zones mentioned above to further validate that vanadium mineralization is as wide spread as the geological, geophysical and geochemical signatures indicate.
Significant Grades of Vanadium Mineralization Seen Over Widths Exceeding 200 Meters
The 2008 drilling program indicated that vanadium values within the near-surface oxide zone are enhanced over those from primary mineralization. The current trenching program aims to provide a detailed assessment of the widths and grade of this style of vanadium mineralization and ultimately use it to assist in designing a next-phase drill program. The 2008 drilling results indicated that widths of near surface vanadium could be as high as 50-100 meters or more. The initial trench results from the south end of the property indicate that the near surface mineralization has widths that are far beyond the Company’s initial expectations. Significant grades of vanadium mineralization have been seen over widths exceeding 200 meters. An extensive drill program is planned for later in the year that will allow Uranium Star to calculate a compliant resource statement that can be used as an economic assessment of the deposit.
