Uranium Star Completes Trenching Program; Targets 200 Million Tonne Vanadium Deposit on Green Giant Project

Uranium Star Corp. (OTCBB:URST) (FRANKFURT:YE5) (“Uranium Star” or “the Company”) announces it has completed a total of 56 trenches on its Green Giant Vanadium Project in Madagascar. The Company has confirmed a 18-kilometre mineralized strike length of vanadium and identified further high-grade mineralization.

Company Targets 200 Million Tonne Minimum Deposit

The results of the 2008 drilling program indicated that vanadium values within the near-surface oxide zone are enhanced over those from primary mineralization. The current trenching program aims to provide a detailed assessment of the widths and grade of this style of vanadium mineralization and ultimately use it to assist in designing a drill program. An extensive drill program is planned for later in the year that will allow Uranium Star to calculate a compliant resource statement that can be used in an economic assessment of the property. The Company’s objective in the upcoming drill program is to define a minimum of 200 million tonnes of appreciable vanadium mineralization.

Company Confirms Entire 18km Vanadium Strike Length is Mineralized

Bill Nielsen, P.Geo., Director of Uranium Star and Project Manager has just returned from Madagascar and has been able to verify that there is an extensive stratigraphic zone that hosts the majority of vanadium mineralization defined to date. This can be readily interpreted from Uranium Star’s airborne geophysical survey flown in 2007. The mineralized zone is interpreted to pinch and swell along its entire strike length of over 18 kilometres, as well as up and down dip.

Discovery Deposit Characteristics

Extensive trenching, using three mechanical excavators, was conducted over the entire length of the property, a distance of greater than 18 kilometers. Initial analytical results have been received from all the trenches utilizing the Company’s hand-held XRF units.

The XRF units being used are state-of-the-art exploration tools that are currently used for accurate, in-the-field analysis of rocks and soils. Past experience indicates that these units very adequately generate vanadium values that can be utilized with confidence. A comparison of the 2008 drill results between the XRF and commercial laboratory assays was very strong. All trench samples are being sent to the NATA accredited Genalysis Services Laboratory in Perth, Australia for verification of the XRF results.  A rigorous QAQC program is in place and being overseen by Taiga Consultants Ltd. to ensure accuracy of analytical results.

The XRF results from this trenching program have been consistent in clearly outlining the vanadium mineralization along the strike length of the property as was predicted by soil sampling, airborne geophysics (resistivity and electro-magnetics) and radiometric data. The Company is currently using a black shale hosted deposit model to explain this large vanadium occurrence and have hired  consultant Dr. C. Tucker Barrie, Economic Geologist at C.T. Barrie and Associates, to further enhance this deposit scenario.  Sediment-hosted vanadium deposits are rare, with less than 10% occurrence globally, and this unique situation has certain positive economic scenarios which the Company hopes to capitalize on as the project moves forward.

Outline of Mineralized Zones

At the south or Jaky Zone, 15 trenches were dug that extended over a 2.2 kilometer strike length with a 500 meter section having trenches established 100 meters apart. The XRF results indicate that the widest widths of mineralization on the property occur in this area. A high-grade core is apparent with grades in excess of 1.0% V2O5. Highlights include 0.65% V2Oover 218 metres, including 1.30% V2O5 over 32 metres for trench TR-09-002, and 0.62% V2Oover 270 metres, including 1.30% V2O5 over 45 metres for trench TR-09-039.

A 6.5 kilometer strike length of the mineralized trend located immediately north of the Jaky Zone that is largely overlain by a thin laterite cover was excavated at approximately 1 kilometer intervals. It has subsequently been determined that a number of these trenches were dug too far to the west and consequently missed the main mineralized trend. An eastern extension of Trench 45, however, clearly defined the vanadium zone.

North of the laterite cover lays the Manga Zone that was excavated over a strike length of 4.5 kilometers with 25 trenches. Trenches are 200 to 400 meters apart and again a high-grade core of  mineralization is observed. Highlights include 1.16% V2O5 over 30 metres for TR-09-044, and 0.92% V2O5 over 58 metres for TR-09-050.

Two kilometers north of the Manga Zone, a series of 12 trenches were established over a strike length of 2.7 kilometers to within 400 meters of the north boundary of the property. This is known as the Mainty Zone. As predicted from soil and geophysical results, the vanadium mineralization is diminishing in strength in the last trench to the north on this zone.

Approximately 2.5 kilometers to the west of the Mainty Zone lies the Fondrana Zone that was tested with two trenches. Graphitic rich sediment is prominent in this target area, which appears to be associated with a completely different stratigraphic level to that which host the main vanadium trend.

The following table defines the XRF results for V2Ofrom the 56 trenches established. Results are displayed with trench locations established in sequence from south to north.

Worldwide Potential for Vanadium

The Company has recently announced a major vanadium discovery in Madagascar, and is now preparing for the project’s advancement.  Vanadium is a strategic mineral that when added to steel creates a product that is lightweight but extremely high in tensile strength and wear resistance.

Solar, wind and geothermal power will not be fully effective without an efficient way to store it in a commercialized and scalable manner.  Vanadium has exceptional qualities in battery technology applications.  It has the ability to absorb and release huge amounts of electricity instantaneously, and will play a pivotal role in the emergence of battery power and energy storage.

About the Company
